Setting up a field to use on Air with Contentful

Learn how to set up a JSON field in Contentful to select and use Air assets in your content model.

Bring your media library directly into your publishing workflow. By configuring a custom JSON object field in Contentful, editors can select and reference Air assets without leaving their CMS editor.

Follow these steps to add and configure an Air asset field within your Contentful space:

  1. Log in to Contentful and navigate to Content model.

  2. Create a new content type, or open an existing content type you want to update.

  3. Click Add field.

  4. Choose JSON object as the field type.

  5. Enter your desired field name in the Name field (settings like localization and validation are optional).

  6. Select Appearance from the left sidebar and change the display setting from Object to Air.

  7. Click Confirm.

  8. Click Save on the fields editor page to apply your changes.
