If your team manages creative assets in Air and publishes content through WordPress, there is now a direct bridge between the two. The Air for WordPress integration lets content editors browse, search, and embed brand-approved assets directly inside the Gutenberg block editor. By eliminating the need to download files locally and re-upload them, this integration is designed to cut down on the process as well as the time taken for your content marketing activities from WordPress.
Who can use Air for WordPress?
The WordPress integration is available by default for Enterprise users. To use the integration, you must meet the following requirements:
An active Air account with access to your team's Air workspace.
Administrator or Editor permissions on your WordPress site to install and configure plugins from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
What Air for WordPress does
Similar to our Air x Sanity integration, Air for WordPress connects your website directly to your creative library. Here is what the integration enables:
Gutenberg Block Integration: Adds the Air Asset Picker as a native Gutenberg block inside the WordPress editor.
Direct Workspace Search: Allows content editors to browse and search their entire Air workspace without leaving WordPress.
No-Download Workflow: Editors can insert brand-approved images and videos into pages or posts without downloading or re-uploading files, helping you bypass the manual steps of managing a separate WordPress Media Library.
CDN-Powered Delivery: Serves all embedded assets directly through Air's high-performance Content Delivery Network (CDN) for optimal loading speeds.
Installing and using the plugin
Follow these steps to set up the integration and start embedding assets:
Install the Air plugin from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
Open any page or post in WordPress, and add the Air block to your layout.
Select Add asset within the block to open the Air asset picker.
Log in to your Air account when prompted.
Browse or search your workspace to locate your brand-approved assets.
Select an image or video to embed it directly into your WordPress page or post.
Important behavior
When using Air for WordPress, keep the following behaviors in mind:
Cloud-first embedding: Assets are embedded directly from Air rather than stored as re-uploaded WordPress media files. This ensures your website always displays the single source of truth without cluttering your local WordPress Media Library.
CDN delivery: Air’s CDN delivers the embedded asset. To learn more about how our CDN handles asset delivery and optimization, see our guide on how to Explore CDN.
Access control: Use Air permissions and workspace organization to control which brand-approved assets your editors can find. Only assets that editors have permission to view in Air will appear in the picker.
Troubleshooting
If you run into issues while using the integration, check the following troubleshooting steps:
The Air block does not appear: Ensure that the plugin is fully installed and activated on your WordPress site. Check with your WordPress site administrator to confirm your user role has the necessary permissions to use Gutenberg blocks.
Login fails: Verify that you are using the correct credentials for your Air account. If your organization uses Single Sign-On (SSO), ensure you are following your team's standard login flow.
Expected assets are missing from picker results: The asset picker respects your Air workspace permissions. Check if the assets are organized in a library or board that you have access to. For more on how permissions work, see What's the difference between a workspace user and a board user?, Explore Libraries, and Explore Boards + Sub-Boards.
Access and enablement questions: If the integration is not visible or you cannot access your Enterprise workspace, contact your Air administrator, your customer success contact, or reach out to Air support.
