Who can view EXIF & IPTC Metadata?

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Supported on any Air plan

✏️ Anyone who has view access to a workspace

Air automatically reads and preserves your files' embedded EXIF and IPTC metadata, giving you powerful ways to find exactly what you're looking for. This data, which includes details like camera model, creator, copyright information, and original keywords, is available for searching and viewing the moment you upload an assetβ€”no manual entry required.

From filters

Refine your searches by filtering assets based on their original file metadata. This allows you to pinpoint content shot with a specific camera, by a certain photographer, or containing specific keywords embedded in the file.

More > Add filter > EXIF & IPTC includes four metadata fields you can filter by:

  • Camera

  • Creator

  • Copyright

  • Imported Keywords.

The values in each dropdown are context-aware; they only show metadata that exists on the files within your current view (like a specific board). To see all possible values across your workspace, clear any location filters.

From Imported Keywords

The Imported Keywords filter is based on keywords that were embedded in the original file's metadata before being uploaded to Air. This is separate from the AI-generated Smart Tags that Air applies to your assets. You can refine your keyword search to find assets that have:

  • All of the specified keywords

  • At least one of the specified keywords

  • None of the specified keywords

From asset details view

Beyond searching, you can also view the rich metadata attached to any individual file. This is useful for confirming technical details or finding crediting information.

From the Advanced section you will find detailed Camera Info and Describing Content pulled directly from the file's metadata. While not all of these fields are available for filtering, they provide a complete picture of the asset's origins.

For a more efficient workflow when reviewing multiple assets, keep the Info panel open. As you navigate between different files in your selection, the metadata display will update automatically, allowing you to quickly compare details without any extra clicks.
