I'm seeing an error on Air Flow

Written by Lauren Ford

If you encounter an error in Air Flow, try the steps below in the order listed before contacting Air Support.

After each step, check if the error is resolved. These steps also apply when a board path or file is visible in Finder or Air Flow, but the same location appears blank or missing in the browser. The local view may be ahead of Air, behind Air, or blocked from syncing successfully.

  • If it’s still there, move on to the next step

  • If a different board path shows an error, restart from step 1

🆕 Upgrade to the latest version of Air Flow.

♻️ Retry the action by pressing the “Retry” button in the sync error pop-up

Note: There’s no risk to selecting retry. This action tells Air's app to continue running as it is supposed to.

Duplicate-detected error: If the error is caused by a duplicated path in the workspace, resolve the naming conflict manually or turn on Air Flow’s automatic duplicate resolution setting to let Air Flow rename the conflicting item and continue syncing.

☁️ Pull from Cloud in the sync error pop-up

Note: If there are any unsaved local changes for this item, they will be overwritten by the current version of this item in the workspace. To avoid loss of changes, save a copy of any locally stored/created items to a location outside of the Air workspace folder first.

🎬 Restart Air Flow

Note: There’s no risk to restarting the app. All Air Flow processes will restart and pick up syncing where it last left off.

  1. Right-click the Air icon in your menu bar

  2. Click “Quit Air”

  3. Reopen Air Flow from Applications folder

🚨 Force Resync from the Air Flow app settings

Note: This action fetches the full current state and the local filesystem of the syncing Air workspace and attempts to sync any differences. This may take longer on large workspaces. This action can also risk data loss if there are any unsaved local changes in the workspace. To avoid loss of changes, save a copy of any locally stored/created items to a location outside of the Air workspace folder first.

  1. Select the Air icon in your menu bar

  2. Select the gear icon

  3. Select Force resync

  4. Select Resync

🧹 Force resync with local data wipe

Note: This action fetches the full current state of syncing Air workspace and attempts to sync any differences.

  4. Check the box to delete all local data and restart the local sync for the workspace

  5. Select Resync

🚫 Delete the workspace folder from Finder and select “Pull from cloud” when prompted

Note: This action can risk data loss. To avoid loss of changes, save a copy of any locally stored/created items to a location outside of the Air workspace folder first.

  1. Move or delete your entire workspace folder (i.e the

{User}/Air/{Workspace Name} folder on your computer) out of the root Air folder.

  2. Click the “Pull from cloud” button in the sync status bar when prompted

🔎 Confirm the browser view

After resolving any Air Flow errors, open the item or board in Air to confirm what is available in the browser.

  1. In Finder, right-click the file or board folder and select View on Air. You can also open the item from the Air Flow activity item if it appears there.

  2. Confirm the browser is signed in with the same email address and workspace that Air Flow is syncing.

  3. Confirm you have access to the relevant library or board.

  4. Clear any filters in the browser view, then refresh the page.
