Who can work with tags?

✏️ Anyone with edit access to the workspace, library, or board
Tags can be applied to content stored on your Air workspace so that you can surface it easily through searches and filters. In this article, we'll discuss how to work with tags within your Air workspace.
Applying tags
From the asset or file view:
Select the Tags tab on the righthand side of the asset or file view
Begin to type in the tags field to filter for the tag or tags you want to apply
Select the desired tag from the suggested list
From the board view for a single file or asset:
Select the content you wish to tag
To reveal the 'Edit tags' function, follow any of the below:
Select the edit menu (three dots) from the black menu bar
Right-click the selected content
Select the edit menu (three dots) from the file or asset thumbnail
Select 'Edit tags'
Begin to type in the tags field to filter for the tag or tags you want to apply
Select the desired tag from the suggested list
Select Save in the 'Edit tags' modal
From the board view for a multiple selected files or assets:
After your content is selected, follow any of the below to reveal the 'Edit tags' option:
Select the edit menu (three dots) from the black menu bar
Right-click the selected content
Select the edit menu (three dots) from the file or asset thumbnail
Select 'Edit tags'
Begin to type in the tags field to filter for the tag or tags you want to apply
Select the desired tag from the suggested list
Select Save in the 'Edit tags' modal
Using Tag Manager
💁 Need to make a change to an individual tag? Each tag reflected on the tag manager has an associated edit menu (three dots). Hover over any tag to reveal the edit menu on its right side. From this menu you can view all tagged content associated with, rename, or delete this tag.
Creating tags
Select the blue '+ New' button
Input the name of the tag you want to create
Select Save in the 'Create a tag' modal
Sorting tags
You can sort your tags in tag manager by Name (#A-Z or Z-A#) and Times used (Ascending or Descending). The default sort for tags is Name (#A-Z).
Hover your cursor over the field you want to sort by to show an arrow icon
Click the arrow to change the sorting selection and direction
Merging tags
🛑 Merge also deletes!
A merge action for tags will also process a delete action. This action will delete the tags from your workspace that you choose to no longer retain and replace them with your chosen merged tag term. This cannot be undone.
Click the checkboxes of the tags you want to merge together
Select 'Merge' from the black menu bar
Type the name of the preferred tag that your selection should merge with in the 'Into' field
Choose from suggestion or when prompted, select '+ Create 'YOUR NEW TAG'?
Select the blue 'Merge' button in the Merge tags modal
Renaming tags
Use the search bar to begin typing and filter up the tag you want to edit
Click on the tag name to reveal an edit function
Apply the edits you would like to the tag
Hit enter or return on your keyboard to save the changes
Viewing tagged content
Click the checkboxes of the tag or tags you want to view
Select 'View all tagged' from the black menu bar
This action will take you from your workspace settings to a filtered view of All assets & files. From here, you can further modify your search as needed.
Deleting tags
🛑 Deleting tags is permanent!
This action will delete these tag(s) from your workspace and remove them from all the assets and files to which they've been applied. This cannot be undone.
Click the checkboxes of the tag or tags you want to delete
Select 'Delete from workspace' from the black menu bar
Confirm the action from the popup modal by selecting the red 'Delete' button
Searching with tags
Search field
Air's search field can be used to input tags and find content. The search is a string search so should you want to search for and surface content tagged panda bear, you can input the full tag name into the search field. The same content that surfaces through this example search will come up if you search panda or bear.
Filtering
From 'All assets & files' and any fast or saved filters
Select the 'Tags' icon beneath the search field
Choose your desired filter and tags
After making your selections click once within the tags filter modal to collapse the suggested tags
Select the blue 'Apply' button to apply your filter to the search
From any board
Select the filter icon to the right of the search field on any board view
Select '+ Add filter'
Select 'Tags'
