Uninstalling Air Flow

Written by Lauren Ford

Who can use Air Flow?

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘§ā€šŸ‘¦ Supported on any Air plan

āœļø Anyone that has edit access to the workspace and a Mac device with OS 11 or later

🚧 Prior to uninstalling 🚧

Important: Moving synced files or folders to Finder Trash while Air Flow is running or syncing removes those assets from your Air workspace, not just local storage. Before uninstalling, make sure Air Flow is fully quit and that any files you want to keep are backed up outside of the Air folder.

Make copies of any files that might be stored solely within the Air folder on your local machine. This includes anything that you recently added to a folder locally that may have not synced up to the cloud or that you know isn’t stored on anyone else’s device. To be safe, make duplicates of anything potentially sensitive and store these items in a separate location.

  • Backup Important Files: Pay close attention to files that may not have synced or are stored in unique locations. Make sure these backups are complete and kept in a secure location.

Quit Air Flow

  1. Fully quit the Air Flow app before moving any local Air folder or Air Flow support folders to Trash. If you see the Air logo in the top menu bar, right click on it and click ā€œQuit Airā€

Delete Air Flow related files from Finder

  1. Open Finder and navigate to your user directory

    1. If it doesn’t already exist in your Finder side nav, go to Finder → Settings (or Preferences) → Sidebar and select it. It will have a house icon and usually be some form of your name.

  2. Once in this directory, use the keyboard shortcut cmd+shift+. to reveal hidden files:

  3. Navigate to the ā€œLibraryā€ folder → ā€œApplication Supportā€ folder and move any folder that includes the words ā€œair-desktopā€ to the trash

  4. Before moving the Air folder to Trash: Confirm your backups are complete and Air Flow is not running. This helps protect files that are synced with your workspace and any local files that may not have uploaded yet.

  5. Navigate back to your user directory and then move the ā€œAirā€ folder to the trash

🚧 Last chance 🚧

Note that this is your last chance to make copies of any files that might not be synced/backed up to the cloud that you are worried about losing. Additionally, double-check these backups to ensure that all files are accounted for and stored safely.

Delete Air application
