Who can use duplicate detection?
👨👩👧👦 Supported on any Air plan
✏️ Anyone with edit access to the workspace, library, or board
👯♀️ Duplicate Detector Restrictions
Duplicate detection works only within the exact board/path where assets are uploaded.
Duplicate detection does not apply workspace-wide or across different board paths.
The data used to identify duplicates is limited to file name. Air does not use any image recognition to identify duplicates.
Duplicate detection is an essential feature that helps keep your assets and boards organized. As your file changes with edits, use the duplicate detection to keep up with the alterations. Here, we will explain how Air auto-detects duplicate assets and what happens when duplicates are detected.
Note: The duplicate-detection modal described in this article applies to uploads into a board. For repeat Dropbox or Google Drive imports, Air handles duplicates based on the import destination: importing the same cloud-storage folder into the same board skips duplicates for that board, while importing the same content into a different destination creates or adds the assets for that destination.
Duplicate asset name found
When one or more individual files are uploaded directly into the same board/path, Air detects matching file names that already exist in that board/path. Auto-detection only happens at the board level; uploads to All assets & files will not be checked. Batch uploads of multiple individual files trigger duplicate detection when the files are uploaded into the exact destination board/path. The modal requires you to choose how to proceed with the detected item before the upload completes on Air.
Stacking duplicates as new versions
An item stacked as a new version will allow the newly uploaded file to be linked to its counterpart. The new upload becomes the cover version for the asset stack.
Uploading duplicates as separate items
Choosing not to stack a duplicated asset as a new version allows the newly uploaded asset to be kept as a separate asset with the same name. Air will not rename the asset. If a user wants to stack the assets at a later date, you can manually create stacks right within Air!
Cancelling uploads for item
When you decide to cancel the item, Air allows your upload to proceed, leaving behind the duplicate item.
Apply this choice to all duplicates
Don't want to spend forever choosing the same option for your duplicates over and over again? Bulk action one choice across an upload of multiple items with ease. Checking this option prior to continuing ensures your upload is smooth and seamless.
